Today, let’s meet Mr. A De – a Bahnar farmer who has been with BIOPHAP since the early days of its establishment 2015:)
When we asked: “do you like to plant trees?”
He honestly replied: “I like planting trees. After harvesting I can earn money”.
He is a typical person among many people that we have met: working just to make ends meet with minimal education only speaking the ethnic language and rarely leaving the village. But he differs from them in one point: The thought of slash and burn forests is no longer in his mindset. At this time, he also knows economic self-control, knows how to make money based on his own labor.
Previously, his land was abandoned because he did not have enough knowledge to grow crops on his own. But thanks to the help of BIOPHAP technicians, he bridged over the difficulties from a round zero and turned each abandoned area became more valuable. Through the ginger and turmeric harvest season, and then the lemon harvest season, he is closely related to BIOPHAP as a real farmer, making people in the village also admire him.
Doing farming is still difficult, but we are more than happy to do organic farming. It’s happy because of the healthy living environment, the full of laughter at harvest time and we delight in our success that we have achieved . If you don’t believe it, look at A De’s smile.:)
