On our path to be a Smart Organic Farmer from 2015, We see more and more new farmers in Kon Tum and Gia Lai , who are doing chemical farming are also interested in organic farming. They give their sweat in exchange for the opportunity to learn organic farming practices from Biophap farmers and generate more income.
In the past, farmers were always persistent, regardless of sun and rain, industrious and creative in production. Today, partly because of the focus on economics, farming families don’t trust their smart anymore, and choose to trust chemicals because it helps to solve problems faster without much supervision. But this way of using chemicals will make the land depleted of nutrients, and crop yields will decrease. As a result, they have to look for a new land to rent and cover other costs such as machinery to operate their farm. The cooperation with the motherland is no longer there, but only controlled for the purpose of making a quick profit and lost their independence in their own farm.
To be able to convince farmers to switch farming methods is a long process. The only way to prove it is to farm without chemicals but still ensure a sustainable agricultural economy at our Biophap farms. They are attested by practical experiences when working at Biophap farms and starting to practice again with their own farm. Although there are still many difficulties, for example, it takes three years to “remove chemicals” and clean the soil according to the organic standards of the US Department of Agriculture or the Organic European standards. However, they accept the challenge with a positive view of a better future for themselves, their families and the surrounding community.
As Organic Smart Farmers, we understand when we create a problem, and only we can solve it. We are also doing what we are passionate about, and spreading quality organic food to everyone is what we want to make this work meaningful every day!
